The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Fire Mechanic Lead in the Fire Department! In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead the maintenance of our heavy-duty fire engines and trucks.  You will receive the opportunity to get the latest training from Pierce on their TAC 4 suspension, pump and valve training, computer diagnostics, aerial ladder inspection and repair. 

The Fire Mechanic Lead will be instrumental in developing a new maintenance program at Berkeley Fire Department. This position will work closely with our Logistics Captain to manage our fleet, help design future Fire Engine and Truck build specs, and design an efficient maintenance and repair program.

 

The City of Vallejo’s Fleet Division is seeking one Equipment Mechanic II to help with minor and major mechanical repairs to gasoline and diesel powered automotive, heavy and light construction, and other power driven equipment as a collaborative member of the City’s Public Works Department.

The ideal candidate for Equipment Mechanic II will possess at least three years of experience performing minor and major equipment repairs to both diesel and gas powered equipment, specialized training in maintenance and repair of gas and diesel powered equipment.

While not required, experience repairing public safety vehicles (i.e., Fire/Police vehicles) is highly desirable.

The Fire District has almost 150 pieces of Fire Apparatus which includes Type 1, Type 2, Type 3, Type 4. Type 6 engines as well as Tillers, Hazmats, UTV’s, Quints, Water Tenders and Rescue vehicles. The Fire Mechanics are ASE certified as Truck Mechanics and CFMA certified to work on Fire Apparatus.
